In 2005, the state of Connecticut , using Homeland Security funds, provided 34 Emergency Service entities and Fire Departments with 2005 Freightliner / Pierce Contender (D) prime mover Trucks to be utilized to pull specially designed decontamination trailers to Hazmat and biological Emergencies. Each department that received a truck could letter, number and decorate them as they Wished. They could use them for whatever function that they saw fit. The two requirements for Obtaining one were as follows, The City or town must have a hospital within its confines and Secondly, no matter what the municipality used the truck for, they were to immediately provide it for use by state or local officials to pull the decontamination trailer to the scene of an incident. You can read more about the trucks along with viewing my delivery photos that I took Of these rigs on page 2 of Volume 3. Pictured above is one of these units serving the city Of Waterbury.
